You separate or divorce, your ex-partner returns to her/his country of origine, Germany for example, and (s)he takes your children with her/him and gets a sole custody decision without visiting or contact rights, because you do not live in the country and because you can not justify income.
Sabine Vander Elst, the author of this petition in 6 languages, in it proposes solutions for an EU directive to clarify and solve this situation.

The President of the Commission of Petitions, Mr Libicki, together with the British Vice President, Mr McMillan Scott, Polish MeP Mr Rogalski and Belgian MeP Mrs Brepoels, will receive us in font of the Parliament of Strasbourg at 13h30.

I hope you will have lots of success. However the injustice also happens to German fathers who had to move abroad during bad times in order to sustain a living for the children. They are also denied access to the children. Jugendamt even goes as far as backing up the mothers when they don’t want the children to travel to where the income is. The mothers can easily prevent them seeing their fathers by moving around (especially to Bayern), not being there at appointments and still Jugendamt refuses to help.
…my husband even flew from USA to Frankfurt to see the children, only to receive an sms from her the x that they now had gone away and still Jugendamt in Bamberg refused to help. It was not enough proof because she claims that he can see them when he wants.
