OIG protects the integrity of over 100 HHS programs as well as the health and welfare of the millions of beneficiaries whom those programs serve. We make an impact on HHS programs and the lives of Americans through our audits and national reviews, legal memorandums and cases, and criminal investigations. We are seeking motivated students who love a challenge and can bring a fresh perspective and innovative solutions to OIG. We look for students of all backgrounds - from the working toward accounting, finance, or business degrees to computer science, or public administration degrees. The Health Care Fraud and Abuse Legal Internship Program provides law students with the opportunity to work with attorneys in the Office of Counsel to the Inspector General (OCIG). OCIG offers substantive legal work that gives interns experience in health law and health care fraud and abuse and an opportunity to demonstrate their writing, analytical, and advocacy skills. Legal interns investigate cases with OCIG attorneys, perform legal research, write legal memorandums, and draft briefs.
