Medicare Compliance Review of Robert Packer Hospital for Calendar Years 2009 Through 2011

Robert Packer Hospital (the Hospital), operating in Pennsylvania, complied with Medicare billing requirements for 180 of the 279 inpatient and outpatient claims that we reviewed. However, the Hospital did not fully comply with Medicare billing claims for the remaining 99 claims, resulting in overpayments of approximately $1.9 million for CYs 2009 through 2011. These overpayments occurred primarily because the Hospital did not have adequate controls to prevent the incorrect billing of Medicare claims within the selected risk areas that contained errors.
