Share Fares provides a group discount of up to 60% off tickets for 8 passengers traveling together on the same reservation. Here’s how the discount works:
- Passenger 1 – full price (or lowest available fare)
- Groups of 2 – full price (or lowest available fare)
- Groups of 3 – 15% off all tickets
- Groups of 4 – 25% off all tickets
- Groups of 5 – 37% off all tickets
- Groups of 6 – 47% off all tickets
- Groups of 7 – 54% off all tickets
- Groups of 8 – 60% off all tickets

Share Fares are available on Coach seats on most Amtrak routes, including popular routes like the Northeast Regional, Empire Builder, Auto Train, Downeaster, Palmetto and California Zephyr. The offer is also available in Acela Business Class. So, get the whole group together to share the ride and the savings.
Discount applied automatically when qualifying travel is selected from this page or apply code V291 on the Amtrak app. A 2-day advance purchase is required.
- This offer is valid for sale beginning September 1, 2022.
- Advance reservations are required a minimum of two (2) days prior to travel.
- Valid for up to eight (8) passengers travelling together on the same itinerary.
- Call 1-800-USA-RAIL to make reservations for 9 to 14 travelers. For reservations with 15 or more, please complete a Group Travel Request.
- Passengers will receive the following discounts off the adult rail fare:
- Passenger One (1) - full price (or lowest available fare)
- Passenger Two (2) - full price (or lowest available fare)
- Passenger Three (3) will receive a 45% discount
- Passenger Four (4) will receive a 55% discount
- Passenger Five (5) will receive an 85% discount
- Passenger Six (6) will receive a 95% discount
- Passenger Seven (7) will receive a 100% discount
- Passenger Eight (8) will receive a 100% discount
- Groups will receive the following cumulative discount off of the adult rail fare:
- Passenger One (1) - full price (or lowest available fare)
- Groups of Two (2) - full price (or lowest available fare)
- Groups of Three (3) - 15% off all tickets
- Groups of Four (4) - 25% off all tickets
- Groups of Five (5) -37% off all tickets
- Groups of Six (6) - 47% off all tickets

- Groups of Eight (8) - 60% off all tickets
- Valid for travel on all service except Amtrak Hartford Line, Capitol Corridor, Hiawatha, Canadian section of the Maple Leaf, Canadian section of the Adirondack, Canadian section of Cascades, Pacific Surfliner, Valley Flyer, and 7000-8999 Thruways.
- Valid on coach seats or Acela Business only; no upgrades permitted.
- Not combinable with any other discount offer.
