On May 6, SIR submitted comment letters to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) contractors Noridian, CGS and Palmetto opposing their proposed LCD for minimally invasive (MI) arthrodesis of the sacroiliac joint (SIJ). If the proposed LCDs are published as is, MI arthrodesis of the SIJ without placement of a transfixation device will not be considered medically reasonable and necessary. SIR’s letter urging CMS to expand access to MI arthrodesis of the SIJ was endorsed by six other societies.
The carrier advocacy workgroup has published letters on prostate artery embolization (PAE) and pulmonary cryoablation with newly updated literature.
