This #MilitaryAppreciationMonth and #ArmedForcesAppreciationMonth, the United States Public Health Service (USPHS) would like to honor our fellow uniformed service branches as they advance and protect our nation. Many of our #USPHS professional officers have previously served in the military, and they are continuing to protect our country through public health service. Thank you for your service.

On Memorial day, Knee Center director Dr. Edward Timmons and assistant director Conor Norris has an op-ed titled, 'Help military families by passing universal licensing recognition' published in the Washington Examiner. The piece highlights the licensing issues that military spouses can face if they work in a licensed profession. Research shows that military spouses are twice as likely to work in a licensed profession as civilians. They are found to move every two years on average, far more often than civilians. To read more on military spouses and licensing, and how to ease these licensing burdens, click the link below: https://lnkd.in/g2myjZrg #militaryspouses #militaryspouseappreciationmonth #Militaryspouselicensing #Licensing #OcccupationalLicensing #OccupationalRegulations #Regulations #Research #ResearchCenter #KneeCenter #StraighttotheFacts #WVU

General Walt, with a simple truth. Yes, we need to talk about other causes of stress and military realities. But we absolutely have to talk about combat and proximity to it. Directly talk about it, and not shy away. Peacekeeping is a job we sometimes do. Forest fire fighting is a job we sometimes do. It is not who we are. We prepare for war, we plan for war, and at times conduct it. This makes people uncomfortable; even some in uniform. Everything else we can do is a byproduct of the one true aim.
For Remembrance Day week, we will publish two episodes to get different perspectives on military service. The first will be a discussion with our former Chief of the Defence Staff, General(ret'd) Natynczyk, where he walks us through everything from his family roots in Europe to his work as the Deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs. Episode goes live on the 6th of November. #nationalsecurity #defence #defense #security #service #volunteer #thensp

#APDs - #DietitiansDay2023 is our time to reflect on that which was and how far we have grown, personally and as a profession. Did you know that dietitians were instrumental to Australian military hospitals during both World Wars? Rehabilitating soldiers and prisoners of war paved the way to expanded roles, like hospital food service employments. Learn more about how to celebrate your impact this Dietitians Day and download your toolkit: https://bit.ly/3qAEJDA

Blood and war are inextricably linked. The military has learned and relearned this lesson in every war over the past century. Read this article, recommended by the Chief of Staff of the Army, where Lt. Col. Max Ferguson writes about how combat casualty survival on the battlefield depends on a well-resourced and well-trained blood capability. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gsZhu85Z
