Overall loan portfolio: 1 lakh crore, which is much smaller sized than personal loans, consumer durable loans, credit card outstanding independently 2. Largely a public sector play: nearly 83% share with them 3. Collateral free scheme to support students from low to mid income households: only 30K crore portfolio expected in FY24 (much smaller than a mid sized NBFC) - - - 6-8L students. 4. MH and South take away majority of portfolio: 3L student loan applications from MH, KL, TN, AP and TS 5. Engg and Nursing courses feature in the top. End of

How many people know and have access to Educational Loans in India 🇮🇳 Do you know banks cannot reject an education loan based on economic status , income or lac of assets as security up to 7.50 lacs Do you know government pays for all the interest for 4 or 5 years of professional course and student can pay back in next 10 years instalment once they get employment, it need not be paid by parents . How many banks are claiming interest from Govt , though Nodal Bank- Canara Bank .. this makes it easy to just pay principal ! Education Loan 100x impact while agri or msme loans have 10x impact , education loans reduce burden on small and marginal land holding , change a generation.. At 8-10 % cover of 100 lacs students it has long way to go 83% only PSU Banks delivering loans , while all come under IBA guidlines to exntend loans under PSL It needs govt budget to Mandate of 10% of Bank Books to be allocated to Education Loans for real demographic Dividend for India over next few decades ! Uttar Pradesh is seeing a rise in education loans but a decline in the outstanding amount, signaling a robust credit flow in the sector During the first nine months of FY24 (April to December), around 30,000 fresh education loans amounting to nearly Rs 1,028 crore were disbursed in the state.
