Scaffolding community as an intervention for loneliness and powerlessness. Our consumer culture has made us very, very lonely and sad and unable to ‘be’ ourselves in work and society. We are mentally coerced by workplaces, the media and social media into being a ‘consumer’ - always needing more, bigger, better stuff to be happy. We tend to bottle up what we really think, feel and need in favour of fitting in to what has become a very flawed system. ‘Consumer’ - that is our title (is what you call us in your workplace?) A sense of belonging makes us much more resilient and able to question coercion of any kind and address the challenges of the future. Our environmentally resilient future will be so much more friendly, emotionally resourced, give us access to wise counsel, stop the panic about money and judgement of all kinds. It will need to be simple and kind. Our bodies and minds will be able to relax - they are forged in community. In the past life was hard, but mainly the elites were lonely... and it’s only in the past 100 years or so that the masses in some counties have been taken on the lifestyles of the elites, where sold to us ‘better’ because you are more stuff and more ‘security’. Sadly that was a lie. End of

Ken explains, "Community is a therapeutic intervention. If we provide connection, provide agency, and start with dignity for people with the most serious mental illnesses, for most of us what happens is we build resilience." Indigenous sacred circles hold deep meaning and significance in native cultures. These circles are a symbol of unity, balance, and wholeness that offer guidance and support. As Native American people it is within these circles that we can find healing as we acknowledge the importance of native harm reduction strategies that support that healing. Taking steps to reduce the risk of harm from the disease of addiction is essential to ensure the well-being of Native American individuals and our communities. Teaching our indigenous people that the reduction of stigma around opioid use is crucial to help those in recovery. Let's work together to create a safe and supportive environment for all. #IndigenousSacredCircle #HarmReduction #OpioidRecovery #ReduceStigma #CommunitySupport

🧡It’s National Stop the Violence Day. Violence is a public health issue affecting all people across the globe, including our health outcomes. Our health is influenced by Social Determinants of Health (SDoH) in which we live, work, play, and learn. Violence within communities causes significant physical injuries and mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder. 🫶The CDC states that over 1.4 million Americans are treated for assault in emergency rooms each year. Community violence also prevents people from engaging in healthy behaviors like walking, bicycling, and accessing healthy food. Today, we take a stand to Stop the Violence and encourage individuals and communities to work towards becoming a more peaceful, healthier society. 🔍To learn more about violence prevention, visit https://lnkd.in/dN4nh-G #HCDI #HCDInternational #StopTheViolence #ViolencePrevention #PublicHealth #SocialDeterminantsOfHealth #MentalHealthAwareness #CommunityViolence #PeacefulSociety #HealthOutcomes #ViolencePreventionDay #HealthyCommunities
