When children are first admitted to foster care, it is requested that we provide them a “place of safety”. But for the the has experienced trauma, feeling safe requires far more than a location. A compassionate, loving foster home is the environment where we can begin to form #connection, build #trust, and promote #healing. They'll assess your parenting abilities, your family's attitudes toward foster care, and various social and personal characteristics. 🏡Home Safety Check: The social worker will assess your home's safety in accordance with licensing regulations, ensuring it's suitable for additional family members. In Texas, an increasing number of children are leaning on the stability and warmth of foster and adoptive homes, with the figures oscillating between 24,000 and 30,000 children in the foster care system at present.  November is #NationalAdoptionMonth.  According to childwelfare.gov, over 100,000 #children were waiting to be adopted who were at #risk of aging out of foster care without a permanent family connection. 22% of them were between the ages of 13 & 17.   Teens in foster care wait longer & are at higher risk of not securing lifelong connections. Children who can't safely remain with their parents do better with kin than with strangers in #FosterCare. But kinship families outside the formal system aren't eligible for crucial supports that foster families receive.
