He had similar things to say about Bill Clinton, also whom I critiqued in real time. My critique of Obama was stinging but not disrespectful and in real time in the period 2008-2012, even as T. Boone Pickens, for whose grassroots advocacy I was leading the State of Maryland, was directly working with the president and the Congress to get legislation on America’s energy independence passed, which did. I coined the word Obamacare in an Op-Ed contribution to the Wall Street Journal, directly wrote to Obama about why it will not work and spoke to a member of his Council of Economic Advisers (CEA), protested his Nobel peace prize in 2009 as premature, wrote a Wall Street Journal Op-Ed contribution, parts of which went into his Nobel acceptance speech in 2009, and never voted for him. America had many bad presidents - it is not about race and it is not personal, in fact I like him and I think he means well but did not know how to translate his words into action - the best four are on Mount Rushmore from whom the rest can learn and reflect, https://lnkd.in/ebFmn68m, https://lnkd.in/eHZu9zxs. The news media and government institutions should never commandeer a whole society to make a president succeed, compromising democratic pluralism. In my case it was The Washington Post and Federal Reserve Board. I told Obama directly on X from my account @1_776 since 2012, I will help him finish his unfinished community organizing project in South Side Chicago for $20 million, $1 million in restitution for every year I lost since 2003.

As we take a day to celebrate America's independence, it's important to remember that the survival of the United States was never guaranteed. Only by the hard work of the Founders, the people of the new nation, and the execution of the framework of government established in the Constitution has out nation endured. The constant striving to achieve a more perfect union and work out the inherent challenges that existed at the founding remain worthy ambitions. The immeasurable cost of fighting to retain the Union and the work to restore the nation led by President Grant are especially notable on July 4 when we remember Gettysburg are all things we should remember and take a moment today to consider. As President Reagan said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.” Let's all do our part to ensure freedom passes to the next generation and as Americans we continue to achieve the most perfect union possible. I apologize for the belated birthday quote in honor of President John F. Kennedy (May 29th). He was a widely revered progressive leader whom many considered to be ahead of his time. Of course, times have changed. President Kennedy created a national aspiration to seize the lead in space exploration. While he didn't live to see the day our astronauts landed on the moon, his goal was accomplished with enthusiastic bipartisan support. That type of support is difficult to even imagine today. President Kennedy championed civil rights because he believed "all men are created equal." This was after his Party had successfully filibustered against several anti-lynching bills and an anti-poll tax while also filibustering (unsuccessfully) against the Civil Rights Acts of 1957. After his death, his Party orchestrated the longest filibuster in history in the 1964 Civil Rights Act but was thankfully unsuccessful again. In the early 1960s, he set the stage for civil rights when the word "racist" was almost a badge of honor in the deep south. Conversely, that word is liberally used today to shut down almost any debate that doesn't conform to a particular narrative. President Kennedy also had a view of taxation that was later drawn upon by President Reagan (see the quote below). It was considered a viable approach in the 1960s, was celebrated in the 1980s as "Reaganomics," but now is openly taunted in every election. Was JFK perfect? Certainly not. He had his obvious flaws, failures, and weaknesses. It begs the question: Would John F. Kennedy be a viable presidential candidate today? Would he be vilified as a warmonger (think: Bay of Pigs and the early onset of Vietnam)? Would he be mired in #MeToo-related suits (for his multiple dalliances)? Would he be accused of election fraud (think: Chicago)? Would his economic policies be accepted by his Party, or would he be squashed in its primaries... or God forbid, would he be forced to run as a Republican? Given his intellect and personality versus the level of competition he'd likely face today, I think he might be able to win as a write-in. 😏 #president #birthday #politics #politicalparties #principles #change #bipartisan #hyperpartisan
