Did you know that 95% of domestic abuse cases ❗ do not ❗ end in a conviction? The criminal justice system is failing survivors of abuse, over and over again. But we have a solution – and evidence to show that it really works. Over 10 years ago, in collaboration with our sister organisation Standing Together Against Domestic Abuse, we developed the Whole Justice Approach to improve support for survivors and, ultimately, increase prosecution and conviction rates. Since we started implementing this approach through the Impact Project with Hammersmith & Fulham Council, we’ve seen: ✔️ 51% increase in arrests leading to charges ✔️ 100% increase in the use of restraining orders ✔️ 34% increase in convictions in domestic abuse cases We’re now campaigning for every survivor of domestic abuse to have access to this kind of support. Help us spread the word by sharing this post and reading our report #HerStoryHerJustice ✊ https://lnkd.in/eA-3jMdW

Create a Trail of Evidence Over the years, I have encouraged victims of domestic violence and stalking to document and record each occurrence in as much detail as possible, including any text, images, or screenshots. This recording of events, whether one feels they are small, large, or insignificant, can help provide a trail of evidence for prospective legal action in the future. Sadly, too many victims have told me of their experiences only from memory, often forgetting or blocking out critical details that could help them seek legal justice. In addition, sharing a comprehensive timeline makes it easier for the police or support services to treat your story seriously and more promptly. It also assists the victim in taking action sooner, seeing the pattern of abuse and not as single incidents which may create doubt about their victimization. www.safeinternational.biz #abuse #domesticviolence #violenceprevention #selfdefense #reporting
