ED Boarding is a complex problem that negatively impacts patients who are sick enough to be admitted to the hospital. Imagine you need admission - but the first 6-24 hours of care after admission, you are still held in the ED because no bed is available upstairs. Not only is this less than ideal care during your initial hospitalization, but it is also impacts the ED’s ability to see the who still needs to be evaluated! Lastly, boarding leads to burnout for all healthcare professionals working in the ED - because they know that their ability to provide the highest quality care is impacted. Kudos to #ACEP and the authors for offering federal solutions that could have real impact! #advocacymatters
