MISPERCEPTIONS ABOUT THE OPIOID EPIDEMIC IN AMERICA. Mark Twain purportedly said: “There are three kinds of lies; lies, damn lies, and statistics.” The following well-researched Article (See Below) clearly explains why, i.e. “To restrict prescribed opioids for those suffering acute and chronic pain who demonstrate benefit and safe use is to cause needless harm and to do little to stem the tide of illicit opioid use as the current driver of overdoses.” Furthermore, "Eleven misperceptions were identified that underlie some of the growing national concern and backlash against opioid use. Misperceptions include the number of opioid overdose deaths, the quality of government-sponsored data and guidelines, the impact of opioid dose escalation on overdose risk, postoperative opioid use associated with long-term use, and the link between prescription opioid use and heroin initiation.” Our Australian Federal health authorities & policy makers do well to pay attention to the mistakes made in America, when have only led to [QUOTE] "unnecessary restrictive practices that are founded in fear and may cause unintended harm to patients in pain." I'm always very curious about what's happening in Australia. I have many Australian friends with my same disability related to the pain industry here in the US. My friends are heavily impacted by my ex doctors here in the US whose research is used globally--my ex doctors who I have fired for reasons such as showing up unprepared, being generally incompetent, being misogynistic, and appearing to be under the influence during the consultation. It's like a game of telephone because here in the US there is a clear cause-and-effect of conflicts of interest, research being manipulated, shenanigans my ex doctors have been involved in, and bad practices in care. But then when my ex doctors' research gets picked up globally because "American doctors are the cream of the crop" and so else just follows along, I wonder if these doctors internationally even know or if there is financial incentive in some way for them to follow along like sheep. is there financial incentive in private care in Australia to follow along with how American doctors are doing things when American doctors are doing things because of insurance allotments for procedures, etc)

There is, among many of us with pain, a belief that these consequences are absolutely NOT unintended. Time and time again, we're referred to a 'high utilizers', as in, expensive. Refusing to treat those of us with high impact pain certainly saves insurers a lot of money and, if those on disability die due to untreated pain, well, that's one less person collecting disability payments. It's really never been about patient safety, but instead about saving money, suing big pharma and the drug war. We're nothing more than acceptable collateral damage.

When I was on my medication and I was able to go and do things and live my life and even go to a park and even though I was on an electric scooter I was able to get about my bones kept deteriorating and I was not welcome at the pain clinic anymore since I can't have any of the stimulators or electric things in my spine so I was on multiple medications when I was sent home from the hospital after they abruptly well after my doctor who had me on all the medications all these years stopped it abruptly then I next thing I know I have problems in my brain and now I have seizures which I had no idea that I was even having seizures so the man who had me on it took me off of it abruptly and because I didn't have the medication for my rehab at the same time I wound up in bed and I got a bed sore that bed sore is what is going to be killing me and that's no question cuz I've had so many resistance infections in my body and I have thought them all but right now I am fighting three infections and I just don't know how much more I could give in to I just want my pain controlled and now I have a bed sore that I have besides all the pain of my nerves my phone's and my muscles and all this was done with malice thank you #YOURPAINPAL

Some realize it’s not about opioids– it’s about allowing people to live who cost others.

I always did love Mark Twain. I read that he was born and died the same day Haley's Comet passed by the Earth. I also remember reading that Mark Twain had "a penchant for interracial buggery." I can't recall if the sources were the same. Actually, that was from something written by Dr. Hunter S. Thompson. And recently I read that Thompson's title òf Doctor was obtained by mailing in a check to some Eastern religious group for $20-something dollars. And it was not as Hunter would often claim, that he had a doctorate in journalism. But these purported facts never deterred me from enjoying the literary works of either man. Ɓe that as it may, my respect for what Twain said about lies seems to be more applicable with every day that passes with the Biden administration. Especially the part of Twain's statement about, we'll, all three categories of lies about prescription opioids. With all this said, I feel tĥe need to quote something from Thompson's many works. "Don't take any guff off of those swine." So when confronted with lies about prescription opioids, don't slop those lying hogs.

My prayers are with you because the same thing happened to my late Mother-in-law. Jesus will judge these doctors who literally caused your death by denying treatment.
