Did you know that congenital heart disease (CHD) is the most common birth defects, affecting 1 in 100 births? There are nearly 2 million adults in the United States living with CHD. And people with CHD need lifelong heart care with a specialist. That’s where the UPMC Adult Congenital Heart Disease Center comes in. Our program bridges the Heart Institute at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute to care for patients with CHD. She has been instrumental and at the helm in promoting diversity at Walden University through inclusive teaching and learning. Around the world the significance of stroke as health concern is largely overlooked, and underrated. While 90% of strokes are associated with modifiable risk factors, research into public perception suggests that up to 50% of the public don't believe that it is possible to prevent a stroke. In some countries 75% of people can't identify a single symptom of stroke. We believe public awareness and patient advocacy has a key role to play in improving stroke outcomes. Our new World Stroke Campaign website aims to support stroke stakeholders to raise awareness of stroke prevention, symptoms, treatment and recovery.
