The Office of Infectious Disease and HIV/AIDS Policy (OIDP) is located in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (ASH), Office of the Secretary (OS), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Our mission is to provide strategic leadership and management, while encouraging collaboration, coordination, and innovation among federal agencies and stakeholders to reduce the burden of infectious diseases. OIDP works with federal and non-federal stakeholders to develop, coordinate, and implement national strategies and initiatives to prevent infectious diseases. Some of the topics addressed by our working groups and national strategies include: -Antibiotic resistance -Blood and tissue safety and availability -HIV and AIDS -Sexually transmitted infections -Tick-borne diseases -Vaccines and immunization -Viral hepatitis

The 81st #PACHA meeting starts today at 9 a.m. ET! Follow along on X/Twitter (@HIVgov) for live updates throughout the meeting, or join us via the HHS Livestream: http://www.hhs.gov/live The meeting will start with opening remarks from PACHA Co-Chairs Marlene McNeese and Vincent Guilamo-Ramos. Assistant Secretary for Health Rachel L. Levine will share a welcome and Francisco Ruiz, Director, Office of National AIDS Policy (ONAP) will provide introductory remarks. We’ll then hear presentations and discussions on: ➡️ Science and public health implementation ➡️ Mpox updates ➡️ Agencies perspective on progress towards ending the HIV epidemic Later in the afternoon, PACHA will host a public comment session (registration required to participate, but anyone can view via the livestream), and we’ll close the day with next steps and closing remarks.

CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report emphasizes the efficacy of the two-dose JYNNEOS vaccine against mpox. It stresses the importance of completing of the vaccination series. The Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS will meet in Metro Washington, DC, on June 5 and 6, 2024, to discuss topics including progress toward ending the HIV epidemic in the United States and engage with community members. Since the inception of the U.S. Business Action to End HIV (the Coalition) on World AIDS Day 2021, HIVgov has regularly provided updates on its activities. The Coalition was formed to heed the National HIV/AIDS Strategy's call for enhanced public-private partnerships. Following its first anniversary on World AIDS Day 2023, the Coalition, alongside its partners, has been actively engaging in initiatives to combat HIV at both local and national levels.
