Deneen holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences (BSHS) degree from Howard University’s School of Pharmacy, Nursing and Allied Health Sciences – and, subsequently acquired dual –Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Management, Health Administration degrees from the University of Maryland University College. Her longstanding interest and love for science/biomedical research prompted her decision to join the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in 2008 by way of the NIH Administrative Fellows Program (AFP) – an opportunity that ignited her federal service career and interest in an array of diverse human capital initiatives – specializing in policy development and process improvement, strategic hiring (development of pre-recruitment and outreach efforts), organizational development, workforce planning coupled with project management and business process re-engineering to name a few. From being a Management Analyst at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Office of Workforce Effectiveness and Resources (OWER), providing guidance to administrative officers and senior leadership on Title – 5 human capital – related actions; to work as a Project Manager at Center for Information Technology (CIT) and Office of the Chief Information Center (OCIO) leading strategic hiring and organizational realignment initiatives; and most recently serving as an Extramural Administrative Officer at the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) – providing a range of administrative guidance and services to programs in the pursuit of translational success – efforts impactful to organizational culture and performance.
